September Events

September 13, 2011 – In addition do September 13th being my anniversary, it’s also beer tasting day!    We are tasting a somewhat local brew made by Free State called Ad Astra Ale.  This ale is the first brewed in Kansas since pioneering days. The name “Ad Astra comes from the Kansas State Motto – Ad Astra per Aspera, Latin words meaning “To the Stars through Difficulties”. They have blended Pale, Caramel, and Munich malts for a rich amber beer. The hops balance this malty sweetness, and we’ve chosen Northern brewer and Fuggles hops for their flavor.

The next beer is North Coast Brewings Old Rasputin Imperial Stout.  Produced in the tradition of 18th Century English brewers who supplied the court of Russia’s Catherine the Great, Old Rasputin seems to develop a cult following wherever it goes.  It’s a rich, intense brew with big complex flavors and a warming finish.  Be sure to stop by Tuesday and try these delicious beers.
